IFA Rules and Regulations
 

 

dotSm Check-In:

 

Vehicles are to be at the terminal one hour prior to sailing. Passengers are to be available to board 30 minutes prior to sailing.

 

dotSm Security:

 

IFA operates under a security plan approved by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. All passengers 18 and over are required to present government-issued photo ID prior to boarding the vessel. All vehicles are subject to a search. Additional security measures may be imposed.

 

dotSm Unaccompanied Minors

 

Passengers must be at least 12 years of age to travel without an adult. Passengers 12 to 15 years of age must have a parent or guardian complete an Unaccompanied Minor form.

 

dotSm Vehicle Deck

 

Passengers are not allowed on the vehicle deck while vessels are underway unless accompanied by an IFA employee.

 

dotSm Animals

 

Must remain in owner provided containers on the vehicle deck.

 

dotSm Smoking

 

For the health and convenience of passengers, smoking is only permitted in designated areas on the outside decks.

 

dotSm Alcoholic Beverages/Illegal Drugs

 

May not be consumed, or used, aboard IFA vessels. Those violating this policy will be subject to prosecution and denial of future IFA travel. The Inter-Island Ferry Authority reserves the right to refuse passage to any person apparently under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or any person whose conduct would be considered dangerous or objectionable to other passengers.
 

 

dotSm Firearms

 

Walk-on passengers with firearms are required to check them with the uniformed crew member. Firearms must be unloaded with ammunition stored separately. Unloaded firearms may be securely locked in a passenger's vehicle.

 

dotSm Hazardous Materials

 

Explosive, highly flammable materials, corrosives, etc. may not be transported on IFA vessels. It is permitted to take an additional jerry jug or two, up to 30 gallons of gas and OK to take up to 55 gallons of diesel fuel extra besides the vehicle tanks.

 

dotSm Lounge Setting

 

Kindly refrain from reserving lounge seats to the exclusion of other passengers.

 

dotSm Hand Luggage

 

Foot passengers may bring hand luggage, with weight not to exceed 100 pounds per person. For security reasons, only items in the care and custody of a passenger will be accepted. Passengers are responsible for the handling and the safety of their luggage, including placing it on and off IFA luggage carts. There is no weight limit on luggage in a vehicle. Unaccompanied luggage is not permitted and will be confiscated. All luggage and vehicles may be subject to security search.

 

dotSm ADA Compliance

 

Elevator access is available on IFA vessels. Public areas aboard ships are wheelchair accessible.

 

dotSm Laptop Computers

 

Facilities are provided for laptop computer use in the ship's reading room. Electric outlets are 110-volt/60 cycle AC.

 

dotSm Vehicles

 

Vehicle rates do not include the driver. All rates/fares are one-way. The IFA does not provide for loading or off loading vehicles. If the shipper does not remove a vehicle from the vessel upon arrival it will remain aboard incurring additional costs, be towed at owner expense, or removed by the IFA and assessed additional charges. The IFA will not be responsible for vehicle damage resulting with tidal ranges affecting the angle of transfer ramps. A certified weight slip showing combined overall weight of tractor, trailer/van and load is required for construction, freight hauling vehicles, and all other commercial vehicles.

 

dotSm Schedules

 

Departure times may be affected by weather conditions.

 

dotSm Medical

 

Passengers are advised there is no ship's doctor. Medical services consist of first aid only. It is the passenger's responsibility to notify the IFA of any special accommodations that may be needed in the event of a medical emergency.

 

dotSm Connecting Transportation

 

Regularly scheduled Ketchikan Gateway Borough bus service (907-225-8726) provides connections from the Ketchikan terminal, north to Wal-Mart, Shoreline area, and the Ward Cove industrial site, and south to downtown, Saxman, and the Fawn Mountain School. Ketchikan Airport Shuttle (907-225-5429) provides connecting service between the Ketchikan terminal and the Ketchikan International Airport. POW Transportation (907-957-2224) offers connecting passenger service between the Hollis and Coffman Cove terminals, Klawock and Craig. Passenger service between the S. Mitkof terminal and Petersburg is available. Advance reservations required for connecting passenger transfers to or from the Ketchikan airport, and the Hollis, Coffman Cove and S. Mitkof terminals.
